Thanks for coming along and supporting my work!
The Bethunes Gully paintings were begun in January this year during Australia’s bushfires when our sky went pink – I started this series of paintings that look up at the douglas firs in my spacious inner city studio and completed them in our tiny sunroom during lockdown.
I then realised that I would need to simplify my palette and marks to be able to continue working from home. The resulting nightscapes and pen drawings were a result of late night lockdown walks around North East Valley.
One of the paintings in this series was selected for the Dunedin Dream Brokerage Bubbles project that invited artists to share the upsides of lockdown with their local neighbourhood. My poster was displayed in the window of the Blacks Road Grocer in North East Valley.
